About Bluegrass Greenworks
Mission: Building a World-Class Green Community Bluegrass Greenworks Inc. (BGI) is a
Kentucky non-profit corporation founded to carry out the above Mission. BGI recognizes the value of an active green
community in driving healthy community development, sustainable economic growth
and an exceptional quality of life. We support
those in the community who share these goals by connecting them with one
another, with the larger community, and with educational opportunities. BGI
projects include: Bluegrass
GreenExpo
– The purpose of the GreenExpo is to bring together the business, education,
government, and non-profit sectors to educate Kentuckians about green living,
energy conservation and renewable energy solutions, and connect consumers with
marketers of related products, services and lifestyles. Attractions include a
Trade Show, Workshops, Kid’s Expo, Sustainability Street, Educational Exhibits,
Demos and Tours, + Local Art, Music and Food. The community may participate as
Sponsors, Exhibitors, Educators and Volunteers. Bluegrass
GreenGuide
– The GreenGuide is a comprehensive guide to green-focused businesses, schools,
government agencies, non-profits, and other resources serving the
community. It is a one-stop source for
more healthy, sustainable and energy saving products and services, plus
information and resources to help you improve the quality of life for your
family and community. It is available
online at bluegrassgreenworks.org or via
the print version published every April. A New GreenGuide Monthly was unveiled
in January 2010. GreenLink
E-Newsletter & Calendar – Events and announcements are collected
from all sectors of the “green community”, placed in the Calendar, and sent out
every Thursday via the GreenLink Weekly.
The GreenLink Monthly informs recipients about BGI projects and other
local initiatives. Beginning in 2010, the Monthly will include special offers
and announcements from businesses and organizations participating in the New Bluegrass GreenCard program. Bluegrass
GreenGroups
– GreenGroups helps government agencies, educational institutions, non-profits
and community groups share information and ideas, and increase collaboration on
community projects. Local groups may
become Friends (free) or Partners (sliding fee scale) and
participate in the above projects, plus the New GreenGroups Quarterly Meetings*. *
The Quarterly Meetings increase communication and collaboration within
the green community by bringing together
local groups to share Accomplishments, Goals, Needs & Collaboration
Opportunities. Bluegrass
GreenBiz
– GreenBiz connects green-focused businesses with one another, with consumers,
and with information and resources to help them “green” their businesses,
products and services. Businesses may
become Friends (free), Sponsors or Partners (sliding fee scale) and participate in the above projects,
plus the New Bluegrass GreenCard Program*.
*
The GreenCard Program provides special offers, discounts and other
benefits to cardholders, while building a large community of active and
informed green consumers. Building a World-Class Green Community Presentation & Survey – A presentation for
schools, churches, civic groups, neighborhood groups and others, followed by a
survey to find out what a “World-Class Green Community” means to local
citizens. The presentation will cover environmental issues that impact Central
Kentucky, various local solutions to these issues, plus current local
initiatives and how to support them or get involved.
